George, re. toxic convertibles, there are a lot of tech companies who need them now, to stay afloat.

That situation is the result of an earlier wave of companies that had no prospect of profitability but went public through IPOs or reverse mergers anyway.

In contrast, during the ~9 mo. period leading up to early 2000 when we quit searching for toxic converts, there were very few of them. Presumably small companies were healthier then, or they had other means to raise funds.
