It's amazing the impressions from trips to wondrous places can last for decades. I first came out to visit BC in 1975 and knew I'd move out here for good some day.

Empress is still there of course. I haven't stayed there but have sample a few pints at the attached Dicken's Pub. A few years ago a cougar appeared in the underground parking garage of the Empress.

Victoria to Alaska is a great trip by ferry I think. I have done many kayak trips along the southern portion of the route; a few in Desolation Sound.
