Second and third tier stocks like APAT and KOPN finally moved in the last 2 weeks. COMPX needs to break resistance at 2200 soon or the market will fall under it own weigh. There are no more stocks to rotate to.

Does The Market Need A Break?

The crosscurrents in this market are making the near future tough to call. On the one hand, investors were able to shake off Friday's bearish employment report and rally stocks. Even though the economic data indicates that the economy is rebounding much more slowly than everybody would like, the softness in the data is offset by the increased likelihood of further interest rate cuts. At the same time though, the Fed has already issued four rate cuts recently and can only go so low. While another fifty basis point easing appears to be a lock when the FOMC meets on May 15, eventually the Fed is going to have to step aside and let the economy sink or swim on its own. The data released in the last couple of months indicates that the economy has bottomed, but that doesn't guarantee that there will be a rapid rebound. Sometimes these things take time. Which raises the question, with stocks up as sharply as they are over the last month, can the current valuations be sustained even if the Fed continues to cut interest rates?
