This pain isue is an emotional one for me, Karen. What makes the situation really exasperating is that most doctors who refuse to prescribe adequate pain killers do so, not out of bad intentions, but simply an inexperience with real life.

Certainly, they need to be vigilant as to prescribing to those who might be abusers, and thus contributing to a person's self harm. But to withhold it from physical suffering is cruel in the extreme. Often there are still old "moral" issues secretly nested in these beliefs (better to get through suffering on your own--better to depend on yourself).

Of course, when people cannot escape their pain, they are reduced to the level of animals seeking a corner to die. It is all so unnecessary. I find it disgusting.

I wish every office had a pain sensing device that could interact with the patient's electrical system--BINGO: Here you are, Madam. Take one when needed.

I ran across an article on pain that reminded me of you.

OUCH! :)

Just so there is no misunderstanding. Severe pain is not my present situation!
