Netergy Networks Licenses Service Development Tools To Lucent Technologies

Lucent to Incorporate Netergy's Technology Into Its Next Generation Service Creation Environment

SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Netergy Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTRG - news), which develops VoIP solutions that enable the rapid development and deployment of new communication services over broadband networks, announced today that Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU - news) has agreed to license Netergy's U-Editor, U-Mediate and U-Engine service development tools to strengthen its next generation service creation environment.

Under the agreement, Lucent has licensed Netergy's technology for use in its Enhanced Service Authoring Environment (eSAE), which enables carriers and application developers to design innovative new services for converged voice and data networks.

``Given Lucent's strong customer base and expertise in the development and deployment of intelligent networks, Internet protocol and wireless services, this is a perfect fit for our technologies,'' commented Bryan Martin, Netergy's President and Chief Operating Officer. ``We are always looking for relationships that will strengthen our service offerings and allow us to reach the next generation of VoIP customers. This agreement meets those objectives.''

``Lucent's service creation environment integrates a set of Internet programming languages, such as JAVA and mark-up languages, in the development of advanced generation services,'' said Jeff Cortley, director of strategy for Lucent's e-Services. ``And Netergy's service creation capability complements this technology.''
