I would think that there were any number of scenarios which Blackstone proposed. This is one of them and one which was first 'outted'.

The Q offers $250 million in new money... on condition the Globalstar wipe out its debts by filing for bankruptcy... (which would erase) Qualcomm's announced total exposure to Globalstar, including receivables, inventory and other assets, of $610 million.

So Q is willing to take a approx 75 % hit in total costs ( 610 + 250 to get back to 250). Sounds ok with me, I'll take that over the 100-1 reduction some have been talking about the 'common' suffering.

I maintain, until shown otherwise, that we 'commons' should be equal parties in the 'reductions'. Call me a knucklehead, but I can not get past the fraudulent concept of pretending to act on one's behalf yesterday, only to turn around and claim otherwise today. (We can make a go of it - i.e. return money to investors, whether it is a company or a bondholder - only after removing all the investors we told that to yesterday.)
