Brushwud,

Overall, not one.

Large cap stocks did not keep up with inflation in the 70's, but the smaller companies (overall) actually did 'okay' (at least for the 70's) - beating inflation by a point (off the top of my head). Intel was not a large cap in 70's, but on the smaller side. The historical data from the 70's indicates the smaller firms did much better in an inflation economy than the big firms.

I'm already invested in small cap.

Regards,
Amy J
PS FP's told lots of MS folks, in the early days, to diversify. I didn't have the impression FPs understood the hightech industry, though I am not saying diversification isn't good. I recently had one contact that decided to diversify a bit out of INTC after taking a haircut in Intel's drop last year, only to take a second haircut after shifting some of it into another stock. That's like going through last year's drop twice, rather than once. But I agree that diversification is good, when done correctly.
