As I am inexorable dragged, kicking and screaming I might add, into my "golden" years (who coined that term) I've spent some time reflecting on old wives' tails. Some I find more substantial than others, some more fetching. What experience has taught me is to remain skeptical. Hence I place little stock in old wives' tails these days.

While I'm not an elephant (at least not this round) I have it on good authority that it isn't that elephants are afraid of mice; they avoid mice because they're just such a hassle to clean out from between their toes.
