...briefly tell me...

I do nothing briefly.

LRU, or Least Recently Used, Buffers…

When the system needs to add data to the memory cache, it must find a place to put it. It begins its search starting from the oldest (Least recently) used data. If it cannot locate a suitable location using this quick method, it randomly kicks out some cache and takes over its spot. A system enjoying 100% LRU success means that all cache requests have been filled efficiently.

CCUR Pages, or Current Pages…

I’ve never encountered this measurement. Given that it displays 100% all of the time adds to the mystery. Windows provides buffer counts, hits, misses, page quantity, and recycling statistics. Expressing any of these as a percentage seems inappropriate.

Have you tried McAfee on-line support?

Cheers, PW.

hi cush

re, "cCURPages and LRUBuffers in my McAfee WinGauge both seem to be constantly at 100%"

just for grins (and because i have no personal knowledge of mcafee and felt like learning) <g> i went to mcafee.com looking for an answer for you, or at least something to shed some light on your question.

after cruising around their support site and not locating anything earth-shattering, i dropped into their chat feature and hung out waiting for a tech. one showed up in about 15 minutes (don't worry, i was doing other stuff while i waited). i said i was asking for a friend, and posed your question exactly as you presented it to the thread.

the tech (a very nice guy named Jaynick L.) immediately asked, "did his software come pre-installed?"

"i dunno", came my reply.

"which version of dr. solomon's is he using", the tech asked next.

"i dunno again", says i.

"you will need to find that out before i can assist you", jaynick answered.

"i understand", says i.

"one more thing, please, jaynick.... can you just answer the basic question whether or not his gauges being pegged on 100% is a good thing, or an indication of a prob?"

jaynick's response.... "i can tell you it is not normal @ 100% but i need the rest of the info".

i also asked if he could suggest any other way of finding this out. he said to go to mcafee-at-home.com , then support, then message boards, and post your inquiry.

hope you get your answers, and please be so kind as to let us in on what you learn.

:)
