This latest investment from Over-based Prelude is part of a £6 million funding round for the new company and allows it to buy intellectual property from CCL.

Alan Duncan, a director of both Prelude and Alphamosaic, said: "Sending and watching a video on a mobile phone or PDA is an attractive consumer feature."

Steve Barlow, co-founder of the new company, said: "The use of video is poised to accelerate as high bandwidth is available through 2.5G, 3G and Bluetooth networks."
