Re: Yet another power outage struck us at work today.

Move here to the Midwest. Much of our electricity is Nuclear generated. The power is reliable and the air stays clear.

Regards,

Dan

Amy, re:I wonder how much they cost to operate for a few hours?

I heard yesterday morning that CA was going to have to power down some of it's grid. Sorry you got caught up in it. I imagine the office complex you are in is relatively large. This would require a pretty big diesel generator and they really suck up the fuel. It won't be cheap to run, but when you consider the cost of productivity loss when the power drops, it probably is a sensible cost of operations. Of course, if you have any mission-critical operations (like servers, etc) at your location, back up generators are a requirement. Your local utility has geared up to help address these issues (by necessity). Have the person responsible for your physical operations contact them, then brief the staff. That's what I would do.

Kind regards,
greg
