SOX and COMPX both showing an indeterminate signal. The move can be in either direction. I expect the move the move to be dramatic either way as the indices are trading a very tight range like a coling spring.

10:30AM ET Both the Dow and the Nasdaq have headed sharply lower over the last half hour. With the realization that the short sellers have for the most part covered their positions, traders are selling on the gap higher at the open on the Cisco upgrade. The stock is up 33% over the past week meaning the sentiment of a positive qtr has already been priced in heading into its release after the close today. Techs are selling off after the gap up

Market Outlook
Can Cisco Still Rally Tech?

Today's big event is Cisco's earnings report after the closing bell and that is where the focus will lie this session. Currently expectations for the networking giant's results are mixed. The bulls see Cisco as a tech leader and are looking for some good news to re-spark the April rally in the tech sector. The bears are less optimistic, especially about the short term, and believe that while Cisco will be able to maintain its current growth rates, its growth has most likely caught up with that of its market and will not be expanding. But with a Fed meeting coming up a week from today and a fifty basis point rate cut anticipated, investors have shown in the last few sessions that they are willing to look beyond the negative and focus on the positive aspects of a news event.
