Coincidentally, I have been listening to a tape series (the Teaching Company, teachco.com) of lectures on American History, and have just finished the events that led up to the Revolution. If those same people were alive today, they would make McVeigh look like a minor player. I had never been taught in high school about the extent of civil unrest that went on for years prior to the Revolution -- the principles of freedom vs. government oppression, the concepts of liberty.

From what they believed, our "liberty" today is a sham.

Interestingly, in an aside, the prof noted that the closest modern counterpart to the Revolution was the Vietnam War. And won for the same reasons.
