Robbie -- actions speak louder than words --- and standing behind your product for a full year beats the hell out of 30 days. One could infer that Sony's failure rate after 30 days is greater than what they are willing to absorb. Let the customer absorb those failures! LOL

Nice to see a company with $4.4 billion in revenues last year become a licensee.

Robert and Mkt_e,
Wonder how consumers would react when told the powertain in their newly purchased vehicle had a 30 day warranty? <ggg>

Looks like Delphi Automotive is moving forward with its lithium polymer battery, called LiPoTek, and has incorporated it into their Energen 10 system, a crankshaft mounted starter-generator system that works with conventional internal combustion engines and powertrains of larger passenger vehicles...

<<Crankshaft-mounted starter generator with mobile electrical A/C power.

Delphi's Energen 10 energy management system with "Mobile A/C" power brings significant advances in vehicle functionality and performance. By integrating a crankshaft-mounted starter generator, a power inverter with machine control, a DC/DC converter, and a Freedom LiPoTekā„¢ battery, Delphi delivers a system that features stop-start, launch assist, and regen braking for improved fuel economy and performance. An additional customization of the Energen 10 system includes A/C power as an option to increase consumer value and convenience.

Delphi uses induction machine technology and air-cooling in the starter generator. The machine provides enough torque to start large passenger vehicle engines. It also generates enough power to support the vehicle's current and future electrical loads, including the use of A/C-powered devices like microwave ovens or power tools.

The inverter and DC/DC converter are combined into a single power electronics package to control the induction machine and provide accessory load power. Used in the inverter, MOSFET switch technology provides machine operation in both generating and motoring modes.

Delphi's Freedom LiPoTek battery uses innovative lithium polymer battery chemistry to provide excellent power density in a lightweight and configurable package.

The Energen 10 system is the solution for vehicles that require enhanced functionality and performance from the electrical system.>>

Delphi PR (5-03-01) touting 15% fuel economy improvement on SUVs using the Energen 10 system...

<<...Energen is a family of technologies for the generation, distribution and management of electrical energy, which can be tightly integrated with conventional internal combustion engines and powertrains. Larger sizes include an in-line starter-alternator, integrated with the powertrain between the engine and the gearbox, to provide electrical generation, energy recovery, torque damping and power assist for mild hybrid operation.

Delphi has demonstrated fuel economy improvements of up to 15 percent on a sport utility vehicle fitted with the Energen 10 in-line system...>>

Lev has mentioned in earlier CCs that Delphi would most likely buy film from Valence. And with the cost of petro climbing above $2, IMO, no doubt GM and others are looking very hard at systems such as this.
