OT European politics of the 20th century spanned the full spectrum of left to right, while American politics spanned the spectrum from center to right. Compared to Europe the US of the 20th century may have been center right, but compared to pre-20th century America, the US has been rather to the left, at least in terms of government growth. Today even with a Republican president, a Republican majority in the Supreme Court and a narrow Republican lead in Congress, we are far closer to socialism then we were before FDR. Tim
