Jeffrey, I think asbestos litigation had subsided until victories in the tobacco battle - blood in the water - drew attention to other potential windfalls, such as asbestos. Tactics learned in the tobacco wars were then applied to asbestos. This and other factors have lead to a resurgance of litigation and claims in recent years. It's probably this resurgance that Munger is referring to. When I traded USG in 99, asbestos was considered ancient history - no big deal, for example. Now it'll probably push it back into bankruptcy.
