I'd feel like maybe I ought to join the union. If it can deliver better pay and better working conditions, then it's earning the dues it would cost me.

Or else I'd demand that the government step in and guarantee better conditions and better pay for everyone, which is probably more or less how OSHA and minimum wage laws happened.
