"so if you proved PTATR was a money maker ..."

That's actually possible, though it's not strictly a mathematical proof. I won't rely on the spreadsheets associated with PTATR, because I find the reasoning behind a list of, say, 1500 daily gainers and losers somewhat suspect.

Would you allow something of a philosophical proof? My argument (a little simplified for the sake of brevity) would go something like this:

PTATR is the work (and word) of an infallible TA guru. Therefore, it must be a money maker.

I think that about does it. But that may already have been the basic argument behind it, and my proof may not be entirely original. I've no doubt that a mathematical proof could be developed, too -- or maybe just a numerological proof, based on the number of lines in the scan.

But I'm focused on something that requires all my attention right now (something cool & refreshing in a glass), so I'll have to let others work on the proof.

Oops. Technical difficulties. Two identical notes. Edited one out. SI must think my remarks are worth repeating.

It's so good to see this thread revived, with a discussion on such a reliable system! It gives one new faith in TA. Short of slinging money out the window, I don't think I know of a more predictable system. (The latter, of course, is not a winning system, but a predictable system. I bring it up for comparison purposes only. Newbies should be advised not to sling money out the window.)

Someone really should post the scan, so it can be analyzed in detail.

Here's some recommended summer reading, MechanicalMethod.

csun.edu

I shall be traveling from Geraistos for my summer TA presentation. I think I'll be giving a talk on the circle of Peisistratus, who was a popular technical analyst at the time. It'll be good to renew old acquaintances.
