Re: Intel CPUs blowing up left and right

You quote some idiot kid who damages chips when overclocking them, but don't seem to have much to say about problems Intel's servers have been having when running within spec, but under load:

Drive Failures reported with Intel Server Chasis (Article Number010326-0000)

Description:

Random drive failures reported by RAID controllers in Intel L440GX+ Server with either an Intel® SR2000, SR2050 or SC5000 hotswap chassis.

This information applies to the following products:

- PM1554U2, PM2554U2, PM2654U2, PM3754U2, PM3755U2/B
- PM1564U3, PM2865U3
- 2100S, 3200S, 3400S

This information applies to the following operating systems:

- N/A

Solution:

This issue is related to the Intel Chassis and is irrelevant to the operating system or model of RAID controller.

Intel has issued a Technical Advisory regarding this problem. Intel reports, 'The problem is potentially present in all HSC RAID configured applications, but it is believed that higher SCSI bus speeds aggravate the problem, i.e. Ultra 160 is at higher risk than Ultra 2'.

Please review the following Intel Technical Advisory documents for a complete Description, Cause and Corrective Action.
