Your comparison to Dell is a little biased, since their JIT/build to order strategy doesn't build large inventories. They also don't have very many customized components.knc

Well, that's a pretty bleak outlook. I don't think it's that bad. Cisco is a great company and has an incredible management team. They took their lumps, but they will continue to do well over the long term. They've already made the necessary adjustments to return to sustained profitability. The company was dialed up to break away from the competition, so they got hammered when the market fell out from beneath them. Now they realize, they need to play it slower. These guys move faster than most company's their size, so I wouldn't discount their prowess yet. Like alot of folks are saying, we'll see how they've handled this down turn over the next 3-4 quarters.
