Dear Victoria, This is my life and my lounge, I love this lounge and I try to stamp the kind of ‘intellectual discourse’ that has become the hallmark of the Idea thread. I really loved that comment from Zain about ‘even the quarrels here are rich in the content as human sides are fully dissected.’ This is actually a rich man’s hobby of intellectualizing sometime even our failures in a way that can be in future turned to our strength. That said, I think the very reason this ordinary place has so many readers and lurkers is due to the fact that we have never made it limited to the actions of the markets. The purpose is the greater understanding of our frailty and our vanity. As conceited, vain and stuck-up individuals this is a game where any player who is anonymous have the ability to fall to the lowliest of the levels and raze others. Narcissism unfortunately is not restricted to France or French only; in hearts of hearts every one of us is a narcissist. This love with self and lack of ability to be original encourages the ultimate showdown like we have seen on this thread in last few days. It is nothing but extension of the ‘Stone Age battle for the apex.’ Cain and Abel, the names are changed but with all our civility we are very much a part of that animal kingdom where given the right stuff we can tear each other apart. For what is never thought about or is never a serious enough a subject to dwell on is the fact that in any argument or in uncivilized conduct one thing distinguishes a true man form a cave man, our ability to reach a settlement. All disputes ultimately do settle, to be magnanimous is another force that great people rely on. It is sum total of forces of civility that should empower our conceited self to overcome these minor skirmishes. I have always wanted that ‘idea thread’ should be not just about markets but should reflect our milieu. The forces that are of multitude nature and different character are all playing alongside us with a mask of civility. It is only that lucky some who discover wolves in sheep garb that is in it a big education. Necessarily the wolves are just not my critics but for them my frailty and my discovery can be a very enlightening experience and I am happy that our weaknesses give it away, we all come down finally as wretched characters that we are. Knowing ones surroundings and knowing man is the half the battle any young kid has to face. I thought that this is integral part of that ‘nicety training’ to some time to be able to face up to the real characters, the purpose is getting to know the argument and not to loose it by being abusive. I think that young kid is lot richer now so are the others. In cyber age despite of our progress, the players have not changed only the tools have. I see a lot of education in all of this, I see myself as real pain in the neck for some, my entire life accomplishments for some are piece of baloney, I have to live with this all without remorse. The ultimate test is the ability to come intact out of the worst of abuse, find and gather the inner strength and learn to do better next time. You cannot win everyone neither to be Mr. Good should be ones objective. Undoubtedly this is banality at its best and we all are a part of it, me as a key participant that does not let Idea die like many have others as Judas who would try everything possible to prove me wrong. The war between evil like me and good like them is a story how we have reached where humanity is today. In our little miserable self we all think that we are important, nothing is important the only thing is one should have the ability to recuperate even after worst of shocks. This is nothing tragedy, downfall and misery all need to be tackled by that inner strength and that we should grow, we don’t need to be too lean. This also needs even if deity is not believed in a little thing call hope; if hope dies everything else is worthless. We are prisoners of that ‘hope’ thing in markets and in life. This thread for me like right now is a room to relax and trade the markets as I see them, some time with lot of eggs on my face and some time none. However, the idea is to trade with certain fix direction and certain model that tells me to do what I do here. People have ways and means to make money or loose it, I have some too, for me markets are my passion, I learn the world off markets not the markets from the world. The markets if looked at properly will make you a better person; the inbuilt system of correction within market brings the scum of the market on the surface. Market contains two kinds of elements the people who respect markets and play the market with certain discipline and people who are out to extend every negative and frustration of their existence to the markets the conspiracy theorists. If in markets you are not ready to play by rules of discipline, no self-flagellation or tendency of accusing others of your own weaknesses, you are going to self-destruct. The propensity that develops into ‘I am able to win all trades’ is a childish past time it has its roots in lack of experience, too much of theoretical stuff and the ‘prison of history and geography’ that traps many a great minds. I see here prisoners of circumstances extending their limitations to the globe that is not ready to wait for them.
