E has tried that to no avail but thanks for the effort. I think she's about fed up with the disklock error and is now involved with getting a new machine. mr.mark made a couple of suggestions yesterday but we haven't heard back from her yet. If she doesn't show up soon we may have to assume all has not gone well. Glad to see another Google fan show up on the thread. I'm a believer as well. <gg>

Another way to see what's really running on your machine is to go to Accessories/System Tools/System Info/ expand Software Environment/ click on running tasks and they will be listed in the right-hand pane.

E: if you read this and want to try one more time, try the above and after clicking on running tasks go up to the button just under tools that looks like two sheets of paper and click on it. That will copy it to your clipboard. Then respond to this message and after clicking your mouse in the reply box to activate it, right-click and choose paste. This will let the thread take a look at what is running and maybe someone can spot the program that seems to have your defrag still locked.
