From Morgan Stanley Dean Witter morning technology letter:

We look for the initiation of BREW based services and the expansion of BREW network partners to serve as a catalyst for QCOM. We expect BREW to represent a completely new source of income for QCOM and we expect QCOM will collect certification fees, enablement fees, and a margin on each software download.

QCOM also reiterated that CDMA2000 1X technology is on track to launch this year. This statement appeared as a positive surprise to some who were under the impression that all forms of 3G technology have been delayed.

We reiterate our strong buy rating and continue to be favorably impressed with QCOM both mid and long term.

<The bulk of developers here are somewhat disturbed by allowing so much control to be put in the hands of what after all is “the phone company”>

So this person feels he can speak for "the bulk of the developers" at the BREW Conference? Why shouldn't the carrier be the one who controls the applications on their network? The developer gets 80% of the revenue from downloaded applications because the carrier has spent billions to provide the channel. Sounds like a sweet deal for the developers to me.

Finally, San Diego did not have a rolling blackout yesterday. According to SDG&E, some idiot took out an under ground cable in the Downtown area.
