In 2-3 years I’m fairly confident we will be seeing affordable recordable DVD players.

When that happens then the already growing DVD market and all the accompanying peripherals will explode.

As an avowed videophile I am looking forward to that day.

I’ve had Direct TV since it was first available in Sept 94.Luv it.

Currently have a dual LNB feed satellite system with 2 receivers
and also the local cable feed hooked to a 4 outlet amplifier
for network programming.

All this is running into 3 JVC S-Video vcr’s and into a 36” Sony Wega Trinitron.

I'm subscribed to HBO,Showtime and Starz so I have for the most part, the bases covered.

The theaters or video stores haven’t seen me in almost 7 years.

Cheers

HI Mucho. All valid points. But just to be melodramatic, a low tech work around for my daily commute to work is for me to walk, but I much prefer my car as a faster, more comfortable alternative.

Such is the case with VOD. If they build it, they will come, because the demand is there. We are a convenience oriented society that would eat this up. Remember, VOD is only the tip of the iceberg too. For instance, I watched on TV yesterday how a doctor in one state manipulated some robotic arms in surgery in another state, all using his mouse and computer. That demands tremendous bandwidth. Imagine these two applications of bandwidth and multiply that by the unlimited useful ideas people can come up with. Imagination is our only limitation to the use of bandwidth and processor speed.
