Dataquest Expects Longer Slump in Chip Industry
May 10, 2001 (SEOUL) -- U.S. market research company Dataquest Inc. forecasted a longer-than-expected slump in the global chip industry, and expects a recovery in two years.

The market researcher said overall sales of the semiconductor industry are expected to decline 16.7 percent to US$226.2 billion this year, while memory products are likely to shrink by a deeper 26 percent to US$40 billion.

Dataquest downgraded its outlook for the chip industry three times over the past few months.
