In New Zealand and Australia they spend their weekends in the Summer at least in outdoor recreation. The harbors are filled with sailboats for instance.

The unions are strong so they raise the menu prices in the big restaurants 10% to cover overtime and just forget the tips.At least it was that way through the 80s.

I agree, at least it would solve a lot of the energy problems.
People would be home on week ends and forced to shop during the week, management of time and increases in productivity as well as more time for the parents to spend with the children. Resulting in a more positive enviroment with less vandalism and more focus on who is liable for the childrens actions....parents.
Geez.... so what if you can't go to your convienience store, Wal Mart, KMart, Home Depot on Sunday. The companies would generate more $ per hour per employee and get more done because of time limits.
JMHO... By the way .. I am 44.
