RtS,

<My take is that they were unloading on the unsuspecting today in the knowledge that they will be buying again 4 to 6 weeks from now at much lower prices. Just my opinion!>

My sentiments exactly! I was thinking the same thing myself today as I read the news item.

Don

My take is that they were unloading on the unsuspecting today in the knowledge that they will be buying again 4 to 6 weeks from now at much lower prices.

My take is that your response is based on an unbiased reading of the current terrible state of the equipment sector.

My impression is that this majority view is noteworthy for its similarity, in the opposite direction, to the response to John Joseph's call of the top last summer.

To wit, a typical response last summer was:
My take is that they (John Joseph et .al) were buying up from the unsuspecting today in the knowledge that they will be selling again 4 to 6 weeks from now at much higher prices.

The fact is that tops and bottoms occur at the most unsuspecting times. And the more disbelief that is voiced at the call, the more likely the validity of the analyst's perception.

[BTW the list given in a earlier post of the MSDW upgrades was incomplete. Here is the complete group: AMAT, ASML, EGLS, KLAC, KLIC, LRCX, LTXX, NVLS, TER]
