DAK is right -- there are tons of mathematically inclined folks with engineering / math degrees on wall street -- many of them wind up prostituting themselves unless they drop out and simply trade for themselves ... some are jsut no good and start newsletters <vbg> The LTCM boys got so overconfident -- they had no sanity check on their estimation of where things could go, used tons of leverage to boot and disbelieved it when things went against them for too long. They weren't into good risk-adjusted returns -- they were going for maximum returns ... they were convinced they were smarter than the markets.
