True, but they had to live with anti-trust investigations for a long time, and that probably sapped valuable resources from true R&D.

Perhaps it is time for cheaper x86 compatible CPUs to make their presence known and force INTC to make true innovations again. True competitors can be a company's best friend if it can rise up to the challenge.
