RtS, the trouble with Bigcharts is that urls you copy from the address bar don't give the chart you were looking at. StockCharts doesn't have that problem. Here's a weekly stockcharts.com[w,a]waclyymy[pb30][vc60][iUb14!La12,26,9!Lc20]

I could interpret MACD as oversold on the weekly.

Now a daily stockcharts.com[w,a]daclyymy[pb30][vc60][iUb14!La12,26,9!Lc20]
that looks more like overbought.

If you take a closer look at weekly and imagine an upper trend line [starting Sept '00], you will see the chart is now above that trend line. stockcharts.com[w,a]waclyymy[d20000401,20010510][pb30][vc60][iUb14!La12,26,9!Lc20] meaning SOX has broken the down trend.

But your scenario could happen.
