RE: "...look at Europe vs the US over the past 20 years and tell me which system is working."

Pick your countries and your parameters. I don't think it is a no-brainer.

**OT** For all who want to guarantee everyone a "decent living wage

The hard core unemployed are an interesting group to study. Having worked ( I'm reluctant to say helped) with these individuals I have come to the following conclusions.

1) about half of them like the lifestyle they have.

2) None of them willingly go hungry (there are a variety of soup kitchens just like there are restaurants)

3) Since food and clothing (not the latest styles) are readily available the only thing lacking is shelter.

4) Shelter poses a different problem because shelters have rules, and its rules that these folks object to.

5) The ease by which this group migrates from area to area, and from season to season is simply amazing.

Michael recently went to New Orleans and spent some cash (and helped the economy) to get there and enjoy himself. I know some homeless drifters that also went to New Orleans, they went for free, saw the same sights, tried some different soup kitchens, and came back to this area and gave us a full report. Who got the better vacation Michael or the homeless drifters?

6) My next area of study is this: If the homeless people are doing so poorly, they why are 60% of them about 30% overweight? Has America created a better class of homeless people, then any other country? The homeless people are the beneficiaries of Moore's law for the homeless... and that law states... "every 18 months as the quality of services for the homeless increases, so do the numbers of homeless people to utilize those services"

This intent post is not to ridicule those that get by with less. I work with those people and I like their crazy views and admire their resiliency (they resist change better than any sub culture) . I just hope that none of them are AMAT SI posters and complain to Jefff about by politically incorrect view points. Had enough of that last week end.
