Don, i think the dude has the motivation of the Europeans wrong...the motivation is not to bring the US low as a competitor (nonsense really...Europe is profiting greatly from the voraciousness of the US consumer...why would they want to slay the goose laying the golden eggs?), the motivation has to do with domestic politics. Europe's electorate worries a lot over green themes. whether that is justified or not,if European politicians are given a chance to bash the US over environmentalism, they will do it, simply to impress voters at home. there is no other reason.
