J.F. let me say this very simply and clearly. People go to jail for perjury all the time. They even go to jail for perjury about sexual issues. Especially, if those sexual issues bear directly on the case before the court. As was the case with Paula Jones.

Military members also get kicked out of the service all the time for having relations with their subordinates. It's called fraternization. Why should we hold 19 year old airmen accountable for certain conduct, and not hold a 52 year old Commander in Chief to the same standard?

Clinton could have settled out of court with a simple apology. But he was too stooopid and narcissistic to do that. He wanted the lime-light pointed toward him, he wanted his political enemies to go after him. The only thing he didn't count on was Monica keeping a stained dress in her closet for 4 months.

If it wasn't for the stained dress he would still be lying today. Just like he's probably doing in regard to Juanitta Broadrick. Oh, I forgot, the press never pressed him for an answer regarding Juanitta's allegation. And he just left it with the first answer, "no comment, talk to my legal counsel".

His lie stood to harm the credibility of Paula Jones's legitimate claim to damages. You wouldn't be so forgiving if you were suing someone in civil court, and they lied under oath, I assure you.

Baloney. The relationship with Lewinsky, a female subordinate was inherently relevant to the nature of the case and to the statute Clinton himself signed into law. Grow up. You backed a scumbag. Thankfully for all, he's now gone and respect can be restored to the office. JLA

JF you and I know that they were out to get Clinton at all cost, but the mindset here ie ultraconservative cannot and will not ever even consider your point so don't even try. Clinton perhaps was a great President but the boys were so hard out to get him that they threw every dirty thing they could into the fray and ultimately found enough to taint him forever. Unfortunately, for the US he has more respect abroad in Europe, Asia, and especially China than the currrent administration.

It is really very simple J F Shepard. President William Jefferson Clinton embarrassed America and it's people. Those of us that are embarrassed have no intention of making excuses for the one man that represented us all and embarrassed us. To make matters worse he then lied about the sex instead of owning up like a real man. It is hard looking the world world in the eye when your face is red from embarrassment. It will take years for forgiveness. M
