At one time, SI posted that "This message was ignored." I think that is what they should do once again as messages are most often personal attacks. It saves a great deal of time and energy if you never read those posts because, as you noted, they are not worth the effort. Plus, it takes time to answer posts, and you will not change anyone's opinion anyway. I have a long Ignore list that I started at election time. I ignore public and private messages with those people who do not interest me. If you have never used the ignore feature, you may find it difficult to do so because you may feel that you should respond to every message that lands in your mail box. I don't believe that you should feel guilty, but it took me months to get over that feeling especially with people whose main purpose was to harass and intimidate me. And, I'm not talking about the guy who has attacked me on this tread. Unfortunately, several other people have told me that personal and vindictive attacks go on at SI all the time. Yet, SI refuses to do anything about it other than erase messages. When SI first set up shop on the Internet, I got the impression that personal attacks were taboo. Corporate America also has problems with personal attacks among employees and between employees and bosses so, in the future, I expect stricter rules for the publication of nefarious messages. I agree. Nixon was more intelligent and better qualified than either Reagan or the Bush Presidents. Nixon's flaw was his character. It got him into trouble. Clinton has or had the same problem and so did JFK and LBJ. Aristotle and Shakespeare were aware of our character flaws and our ability to get ourselves into trouble. Character flaws show up more often for those who are in the lime light or on tv every night. And those of us who publish on the Internet must deal with the consequences of our actions as well. .
