>Well, with these 500 1 ghz Athlon 4 available now, HSN seems to be the only logical retail launch partner.

1 ghz volume and launch partner are clear disapointments.<

First of all, even if these are all the 1.0 GHz mobile Palominos available, it still beats Intel's 1.0 GHz desktop launch.

Second, her statements were not specific enough to preclude other vendors from selling, for immediate shipment, 1.0 GHz mobile Palomino systems on Monday, nor even Compaq offering a different model for immediate shipment through other outlets. Her statements would be accurate even if HSN were to offer other Compaq models with 1.0 GHz mobile Palomino processors before June. All that what she said narrows down the possibilities to is that the specific model being shown would not be available again until June or July.

Having said this, it may be that these will indeed be the only 1.0 GHz Palomino processor based notebooks until at least June, and if this is the case, Compaq will be AMD's only launch partner on Monday.

Yougang, Re: 1 ghz volume and launch partner are clear disapointments.

Don't judge until Monday. I think HSN is just saying nonsense. I doubt AMD would only ship 500(!) Athlons 4 and provide only HSN with them. Since we have already reports about Best Buy offering the same notebook starting from Monday, it's probably a little bit premature to call this a paper launch. It still could be one, but I would be surprised if we didn't have at least volume shipments from one top-tier OEM.

RE:"1 ghz volume and launch partner are clear disapointments."

HSN is not a launch partner. HSN is a retailer. The launch partner is Compaq.
Maybe more OEM launch partners shorty. Sony for sure. Maybe HP, Toshiba, Gateway, Fujitsu..I dunno.
