Pravin, thread... CALM DOWN! ;-)

The launch hasn't even happened yet!

Launch is in 2 days. This HSN promo says nothing about volumes or number of launch partners. In fact, I'm relieved in that Compaq is on board - if the launch had been very limited in volume, I think a much more likely "solo" launch partner would be Sony. I fully expect we'll see multiple OEMs lining up behind the mobile Palomino come Monday. Some with product ready for launch now, others with availability later this quarter.

No Crush chipset?

Isn't EDTN (EETimes, EBN etc.) the only source of that info?

I consider a Crush chipset for notebooks unlikely and that it would be ready now even more so. IMHO, integrating such a good graphics chip in a mainstream notebook would be a major overkill. Better to use the better manufacturing process (Crush would require .18µ or better anyway) to achieve lower power consumption.

Re: No Crush chipset? No DDR? Not looking good so far.

Give me a break! This is a pre-announcement Home Shopping Network clunker. I wouldn't infer much of anything from it, other than the lower bounds (on the upper bounds) it has established: (1Ghz, 3DNow "Professional", Tier 1 partner)

Wasn't the HSN hawking 650 Mhz Tbirds about a year ago?

And if you were Compaq and *had* a DDR/Crush model, would you really want to introduce it at 35% off on HSN?

I think we'll know more in a day and a half.

Doug

Actually we are looking great. We are selling product before a launch date, and the slowest speed so far is 1000Mhz.

:o) Can't wait till Monday morning at 12:01am.

No DDR?

My theory is that the chipset does support both DDR and SDR but compaq implemented SDRAM because there are no DDR modules for labtops ready yet. It may be why some vendors will prefer to wait for before retailing Athlon 4 labtops.

I was hoping for some HP model, since they were rumored to be the first to build Athlon 4 based labtops.

I can't wait for Anand's review (hope it's the server version)
