Arrogance seems to go with that sort of thing. I don't believe I've ever met a really kind and generous soul, someone who was in the business of toleration, who was arrogant about it. There are people who claim to be in the business of toleration (the militant PC types) who are as arrogant and self righteous as Tom, but I don't consider them truly tolerant. A truly tolerant person has to learn to tolerate even intolerance. It's a very hard thing to be truly tolerant.
