Oh, I'll continue to debate you! :) I still think Cisco is a good bet at these levels, if you are willing to hold for more than a year or two.

But I do believe I got lucky on a number of fronts over the course of the last year. I sold some Cisco during March, not know it would tank one month later. I sold my house in San Jose in November 2000, before real estate started hurting. My overall portfolio has actually been slightly up since last March due to my investments in non-tech mutual funds. Who would have thunk that? The bad thing is that my tech funds have taken a huge beating, so in some cases, they are down as much as 50%! My brokerage account, which is what I consider play money is down the most due to it being completely in tech.

Anyway, the bottom line is that I like to play, but I also like what a diversified portfolio does for me. I allowed myself to get too weighted in tech, mostly from not reweighting enough every year after seeing my tech funds do so well. Since then, I've given back most of my gains from the last two years in tech. So I'd rather go back to my practice of being strict with my weightings. It's defensive, but I'm conservative by nature. Anyway, ttyl!
