Jim, this implies a booming business for "active components (lasers, modulators)."

I don't know anything about this stuff. Who sells it?

That is what Corning was trying to convey as well, they claimed that their active components business is still growing. Question, When you lay a transatlantic fiber cable, don't you have to lay down all the amplifiers along the way? I seem to remember that every 70 miles or so, signals need to be "reamplified". If that is correct, a bunch of the additional infrastructure (except the end pieces and possibly the "last mile", are in place for quite some time.
