Not denying that. Cisco got fat, lazy, and egotistical. They paid the price for that and now are more humble. The thing to do is to look at all of their competitors. Who escaped among these? None. Which one's are the best off after the bloodbath? Cisco is clearly the best off. They got rid of all their baggage in one fell swoop. Next, I'd say Nortel is still a competitor. Lucent is history, although I am watching a couple of their market segments to see signs of life. So the idea is as always to pick the leader, so that you'll have outsized returns when the turnaround comes. Cisco is that leader.

PS: I did not see any senior VP's head been rolled off
in the layoffs. I think they will have to do another round
of layoffs with focus on those useless directors/VP's.

yes the Peter Priniciple at csco. This ensures that incompetence remains firmly embedded at the very highest levels of Cisco Systems. Chambers and the CFo ought to step down.
