Patricia so we should pollute to keep the cost of lettuce down ? We have not done a very good job of assimilating the recent wave of immigrants into this country. Do you realize that the Hispanics are the first group to seek a change in language ? Germans,Russians, French, Italians and Poles all came here and quickly assimilated without seeking to change the national language. What's the problem with the Hispanic community ? Are we naming them designated fruit pickers forever ? It is far more difficult to learn English for a Russian or Chinese person than for a Hispanic. To treat them as people to till our fields and pick our weeds is demeaning and racist. In defending this country the Hispanics have more purple hearts than any other group. When we flood the country with illegal immigrants it may be helping wealthy you but it hurts people who are poor and on the lower end of the wage scale. They find their wages driven down by the huge amount of low skilled workers. To encourage this language ghetto and servant mentality is a doomed policy. We need to shut down the borders and work on assimilating the last wave of immigrants into our society or their will be hell to pay for the failure to do so.
