Interesting thought. Could be. Does seem strange that they would cuff her and haul her to jail for seatbelts. What else did the cops know?

But that's only part, maybe a small part of the story. This is about a USSC decision. That's the most important part. If the news stories are accurate (I know, how much chance is there of THAT?), the court said the cops could cuff and jail citizens for essentially any offenses. That seems an extreme and dangerous extension of police power.

Yes. Perhaps. Reminds me of a story. A young man I know was stopped by the NH State Police on his way back to his dorm room with a case of beer during his first weekend at UNH. He and his 5 buds were all underage. The Statie asked to see IDs. While he was checking IDs, the cop burped. The young man in question told the cop that the burp was probably the most intelligent thing he'd said all day. Consequently, all his buds were let go with a warning and the young man was cuffed and placed under arrest.

Maybe the story in this case was similar. <g>
