What many people don't realize, while recession is painful for people that get laid off and companies that fail, a recession clears out the weak companies and causes the ones that are still standing to be tougher. Many new managers that haven't gone through a recession before will have become toughen during this downturn. Many good companies come out of recession stronger then before since they use this time to reassess what they have, and to continue to invest while competitors might be pulling back from lack of forthright or failure to be prepared for a down turn. Frankly, I think dwelling on what we have now is mistake, unless you daytrade, ones time would be better spent thinking about what will be happening after this year is over with. B
