Is Snap.com your portal of choice? Or is Snap.com the sum of many parts(whichever builds traffic)?

Snap.com had many changes in management in the past few years and had as many cash transfusions. The weakness still shows. In doing the format changes, the links or search engines failed to connect. This will take many man hours to correct. It is not even worth the investment to correct the problem. It is probably easier and less costly to build up some of the components of Snap.com and squeeze out the extra frills which does not connect. Downloads are better at other focused sites. Although some old browsers such as IE3.03(for win3.1) may attract many new customers to Snap.com.

The auction feature shows lack of customers for items offered for auction. Ebay took most of the customers because of their belief that personal wealth depends on the market for trading one's possessions. Ebay provided that market. Snap.com has to attract people to put up their goods(easy keystrokes to put items up for auction). These people will also bid for other people's belongings. Extra cash do change hands. Creating a part of Snap.com which draws customers to the portal, increasing advertising rates and revenue.

Information on portals are just for dressing up the portal site(pleasing colors and graphics may be important but you have to spend money to keep them up). Free web sites are not for most customers, (who has)no one to read them. These parts are necessary but not money making parts of the sum.

Ebusiness has to be smart partnering, AOL is locking up all the blue chips. Is GE Appliances locked up?

Snap.com itself should be split up into money making units and some new cash investments made appropriately(wisely, I hope).
