My understanding is that the required PSMs are quite susceptible to damage, which will certainly lower the throughput. It might also hurt yields, but I would assume that this is something of a trade-off (i.e. a "slightly" damaged PSM would lower yields - how often you replace it affects your throughput and if you don't do it often enough, yields will suffer).
