The large builds in storage are being done by stopping large uses from switching.. I know that one large State wants to switch to gas but can not get the Util permission. Asking around I found more uses unable to switch

This is the latest that this has occurred in memory. The storage issue is one that bears watching. A hot summer could mean we will draw on storage for up to 5 BCF a day.

Most large uses have contracts that can prevent them from switching with out Util permission. New gas production is only up less than 0.04 %. So that tells all.

Take a look at the cost of distillates on an MBTU basis vs NG costs.

At $0.75 per gallon #2 oil costs about $5.40 mbtu. Must add local delivery & margin to this price so maybe $6 mbtu for #2 oil. Transportation for NG to say the NE may add another $0.75 to Henry Hub of $4.25.

It would seem distillate would not be economical today. If you have a business consuming 100 mbtu a hour, how long would you burn the more expensive fuel?
