Why don't they flip the coin at the beginning of the soccer match and save the cost of uniforms?

LOL. Only partially full of crap if I say so myself. (Full is a very absolute word.)

At the amateur level, soccer is a recreational activity which allows children of every athletic ability to participate in an active game. At the college and pro levels, soccer is a game of skill played primarily by fit athletes. But the lack of a hand-eye component combined with nonsensical tie-breaker rules and primitive time-keeping procedures eliminates soccer as a serious sport.
