I agree in general with what you're saying, however McVeigh's special evil lies (IMO) in his bastardization of military terms and tactics (eg. killing innocent children) as well as in his lack of conscience about it. I think of the recent press on Bob Kerrey's actions in Viet Nam and how they appear to have haunted him and his colleagues, despite the fact that they were done in the context of a war.

I apologize for the delayed reply to your post.

But I must disagree with you: Military actions are normally well thought out (whether we agree with them or not) amongst several branches of government. What McVeigh did (and he seems to be proud of it) was done on HIS OWN.

Are we to allow vigilante justice to be the norm in this country?

Vigilante justice is unacceptable.

Period.
