Gold Fields to lose millions in Beatrix shutdown.
" South Africa's Minerals & Energy Department has invoked a seldom-used piece of legislation to close down the mine until it releases findings of its investigation into last week's disaster. The severity of the action, which will have a large impact on Gold Fields' production figures for the June quarter, is not surprising, given that the same mine suffered a similar accident a year ago, which claimed the lives of seven miners."
