DRBES, my suggestion for a stable server motherboard is the MSI K7T Turbo (VIA KT133A chipset). It's extremely stable (Anand couldn't crash it once during a 48h stress test), has lots of features and provided very good thermal monitoring of the CPU (the latest BIOS even includes a shutdown option when a certain temperature limit is exceeded). There's also a RAID version available (Promise Highpoint Lite) but I doubt that it will fullfill your server needs. It supports only RAID0 (striping) and RAID1 (mirroring).

Re: I am tempted, given its past record of reliability with me to buy the latest equivalent: 200/266 MHz FSB etc. Faster CPUs.

This guy got his Asus A7M266 up to 2.16GHZ with DDR. If you keep yours below 2GHZ, it should be rock solid.
